So I told Concha about some wonderful calamares I had months ago when she was jonesing for some of those crispy critters recently. The joke became that I said it was too far away. "What?" she says. "You wouldn't drive me that far?" I had already lost this one.

Well, this turned into the idea (it was hers of course) that we should check out the quality of squid available here in the metro which has turned into her birthday gift to extend through the year.

The goal is to try a new place at least once a month and to rate the quality of each restaurant's version of this delicious cephalopod.

We started the birthday treat early on October 18th at Stella's Fish Cafe where we initiated our evaluation rubric.

Cada año Jake me pregunta que quiero para mi cumple. Y yo, claro que lo quiero todo, pero el hombre se puede permitir muy poco. Pero en cualquier caso me encanta retarlo.

En esta ocasion, no estoy segura como se me ocurrio, pero yo queria algo que durara todo un año. Si es verdad que me encantan los calamares y cuando nos entra la morriña, vamos a algun lado a "tomar unos calamares".

En una de esa ocasiones en que me hubiera gustado ir a tomar unos calamares, Jake me confesó que había encontrado un lugar con deliciosos calamares, pero que...estaba muy lejos. Esa fracesita me dejó intrigada, por decir algo, y de ahí salió mi regalo de cumpleaños: probar todos o casi todos los calamares de las ciudades y evaluarlos segun un baremo.

Asi empezó nuestro periplo por la búsqueda del calamar perfecto. Empezamos en un bar de pescado y marisco, llamado Stella's, el dia 18 de octubre. -Concha
